”Georgi Atanassov at 70” Enhibition Drawings

In Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 17:30 in Dobrich Art Gallery will be opened an exhibition of Dobrich artist Georgi Atanassov. The exposition includes 31 black-and-white ink and pen drawings in the recognizable, autonomous expressive artist’s style. Metaphorical plots, spiritual realms, dynamics and expressiveness in character development saturate the drama of the compositions that visitors will see in Hall 2 of the Gallery.

He is the organizer of the international plein airs “Rusenski Lom – Danube” /1999-2004/, “Pirgovo” /1996 2006 and 2016/ and “Momchil” – Balchik /2007-2011/ He participated in dozens of plein airs in the country and abroad.

He has had over 25 personal exhibitions and dozens of participations in prestigious national and international joint exhibitions and forums. His paintings are owned by galleries in Ruse, Dobrich, Silistra, Tervel, Balchik, Gabrovo, Sofia, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, etc., as well as in Belgium, France, Canada and Romania.

About his work, the gallerist Valery Poshtarov says:

“… Yes, he is the lonely and perhaps the last Mohican, who creates his incredible black-and-white poems with a pen.

… Georgi Atanasov has a figurative and semantically rich language, with which he unites the beautiful and the mythical with the simple but eternal philosophy of life.

… The architectonics with which he builds his compositions is reminiscent of the perfection with which the “temple” of the universe that surrounds us was built.”
