The one-man show Signs From The Eternity by the Dobrich artist Nikolay Todorov will be opened on 3rd September 2010 at 5.30 pm at the Dobrich Art Gallery. The present exhibition is meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his birth and includes conceptual works of the Enigmatic Signs cycle that the author has worked on in the last 7 years. Nikolay Todorov was born in 1960 in Dobrich. In 1990 graduated in Mural painting from the National Academy of fine arts in Sofia, in the class of Prof. Dimo Zaimov. Member of the Union of Bulgarian artists. Since 1990 up to now he opened over 17 one-man shows in Varna, Tryavna, Sofia, Dobrich, Zlatni Pyasatsi. Works by him are property of the National Art Gallery, Sofia City Art Gallery, Dobrich Art Gallery etc. as well as part of private collections in Bulgaria and abroad – Spain, Sweden, France, Germany, Macedonia, India and the USA. Author’s words: “On the road to his spiritual development and evolution the man turns back to the past in search of the primary, the eternal, the stock that makes life worth living. A spiritual world has been created void of the transiency and pettiness, running forward to the eternity. In my pictures I create another reality, inspired by the antiquity. My works are inspired by nature, stone, rocks…”

The exhibition commemorating the 75th anniversary of Dimitar Kirov's birth is opened on 13 July at the Gallery.
Dimitar Kirov /1935-2008/, well-known by his alias DiKiro, was born in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1959 he graduated at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, majored in decorative and monumental painting. In 1963 he became a member of the Union of Bulgarian artists. The artist opened many one-man shows and participated in group exhibitions in the country and abroad: France, Japan, Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Russia etc. Worked in the field of painting, drawing, mural painting and mosaic. DiKiro entered the Bulgarian art scene in 1958 creating as a student one of his most fascinating works called Samuil. Being a member of the group of the Plovdiv artists, to which belong also Ioan Leviev, Hristo Stefanov, Koliu Vitkovski, Georgi Bozhilov-Slona, Encho Pironkov etc., even in the 60-s DiKiro instigated and provoked the artistic vision and understanding about how the pictorial image to be created. DiKiro is an author possessing a unique iconography of his own. Creating works and wall-paintings with a line and bright coloring his art attract the interest of the auditory and critic circles during his whole artistic development. He created the cycles Ballet, Past, Music, Towns – Plovdiv, Istanbul, Paris, The burned icons, The Crosses etc. Being inextricably bound up with his most favorite town Plovdiv the artist is part of the town’s memory and its artistic bohemia. As a public figure Dimitar Kirov was the chairman of the City committee for art and culture in the period 1973-1975, member of the leading body of the Union of Bulgarian artists 1968-1985 etc. He initiated the idea of creation of the present Center for Contemporary art in Plovdiv. Works by DiKiro are part of museum and private collections in Bulgaria and abroad – Vatican, the Hermitage in Sankt Petersburg, the National gallery in Prague, Dresden, the Museum for contemporary art Fukuiama, museum collections in Istanbul, Tokyo, Moscow, the collections of the State galleries in Tbilisi and Erevan, the collection of François Mitterrand and many other private collections in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Canada, the USA, Mexico, Japan, Russia, Venezuela. The traditional annual exhibition of the artists – teachers DOBRICH 2010 is opened on June 16 at the Dobrich Art Gallery. Co-organizers of the event are the Dobrich Municipality and the Education and Culture Department. The collection comprises oil paintings, water-colors, dry pastels and works of applied art. Teachers from Dobrich working at schools of all kinds, instructors at artistic studios etc. participate in the exhibition. After the successful presentation at the 16th National Traditional Exhibition of the Artists – Teachers VELIKO TARNOVO 2010, opened on May 21, works of theirs in Dobrich exhibit Miroslav Spasov, Zdravko Toshev, Nikolay Tododrov, Maria Popova, Ginka Dimova, Tsvetan Manev, Kiril Popov, Milena Angelova, Olga Ivanova, Svetla Simeonova etc. Guest of honor of the event is the artist Georgi Gorchev from Balchik – one of the founders of the county studio of the artists – teachers in Dobrich in 1979.
The GALLERY AND THE CHILDREN summer program for work with children starts in June 2010. Every Tuesday and Friday /10.30 a.m./ Children are welcome into the Gallery with no age limitations to draw, mould, work with various materials and create pieces of art by themselves. The price for the visit is 1 lv.
The exhibition commemorating the 85th anniversary of FILLIP FILLIPOV’s birth was open on 25th February 2010. Fillip Fillipov /1925 – 1994/ was born in the village of Pchelarovo, Dobrich region. Worked as an artist at Cinemafication institute, inspector and methodologist in fine arts /1970/, curator at the art gallery in Dobrich. Some words about him by Alexander Drumev: „He actively took part in the organization of all general art exhibitions, in group and individual presentations as well as in hanging-committees as a member and consultant. Participated in the foundation of the art galleries in Dobrich and the towns in the region and in the formation of art collections in the villages; rendered methodological assistance for organization of art circles and schools. Fillip is one of the founders /1964/ of the Group of the artists in our town. He contributed a lot to the development of pictorial and plastic arts and culture in the town of Dobrich and the Dobrudzha parts.” As a member of the Union of Bulgarian artists since 1979 Fillip Fillipov participated in all exhibitions, organized by the Union and in over 40 national exhibitions in the country; took part in international exhibitions in Vienna, Graz etc., plain-airs in Bulgaria, Germany and Hungary. The artist opened one-man shows in Dobrich, Albena, Balchik and Tervel, his works are property of the National Art Gallery, Sofia City Art Gallery, the galleries in Dobrich, Shumen, Silistra, Pazardzhik, Targoviste, Stara Zagora etc. as well as private collections in Bulgaria and Italy, France, England, Norway, Sweden, the USA, Holland, Hungary, Russia etc. Words by Fillip Fillipov: „ I always search, compare, explore. The visits to the world-known museums in Moscow and Petersburg, to the national galleries in Bucharest, Prague and Budapest are celebrations for me in the true sense of the word. 23 September, 5.30 p.m. The traditional annual exhibition of the Union of The Dobrich Artists will be opened on 23rd September at 5.30 p.m. It is organized to commemorate the 45th anniversary of its foundation in 1964.
24 September, 5.30 p.m. The photographic exhibition ‘A whole life devoted to photography’ devoted to the artist and photographer Todor Kemilev /1910 – 1969/ will be opened on 24th September at 5.30 p.m. just on the eve of the Day of the Dobrich Town which is 25th September. It is organized by the Dobrich Municipality, Regional Historical Museum and the Dobrich Art Gallery with the assistance of Kemilev’s family. It comprises original photographs of the period of the foundation of the first photo studio of Kemilev in Dobrich, which belong to the archive of the Historical Museum, as well as private ones brought by citizens of Dobrich for the exhibition. The daughter gave up very interesting photos for the exhibition.
Todor Angelov Kemilev was born in 1910 in the town of Dobrich and was one of the first 8 photographers conferred the honorary title ‘artist-photographer’. Having started his career of photographer at the age of 17 after apprenticeship with the photographer Sarkisyan in Dobrich he became down the years one of the very first professional photographers in Bulgaria who contributed most to the development of the photography in Bulgaria. In the beginning of the 50-s he started experiments in the field of color photography that was almost unknown in Bulgaria in that period.
The Dobrich Art Gallery is thankful to all people who presented photographs for the exhibition.

On 7th May /Thursday/ at 5.30 pm the team of the Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Hristo Gospodinov And Friends, organized with the support of the Dobrich Municipality, Rotary Club Dobrich and Process – Space Association. 2. On 14th May is the opening of the exhibition of the famous Bulgarian writer and citizen of honor of Dobrich Ivaylo Petrov under the title of Before And After. The exhibition will present some paintings by the writer as well as plastic works and drawings by him. 3. An accent in the cultural program of the town in May is the annual exhibition of the artists from Dobrich, united in Studio 13 Association, which will be opened on 22nd May. 4. Bulgarian-Finish exhibition
ABulgarian-FinishexhibitionwasopenedinthefirsthalfofNovember 2008. The exhibition presents paintings by the Finish artists Liisa Malkamo and Elina Försti, steel sculptures by Todor Todorov and paper works by Daniela Todorova.

"Through my eyes" is the title of a photoexhibition to be opened on 3-rd of April 2008 in the Art Gallery - Dobrich. Author of the pictures is Georguie Kolev. He was born in Balchik and recently lives in Dobrich. According to his words the exhibition is with no spesific theme. It includes landscapes, still lifes, portraits and abstract compositions. Four of the photos are black and white tecnhic from the end of 80s when is his debut as a photographer. The exhibition is first one for him. It is tipical that the pictures are taken by film camera which is a reverance to such a kind of art tecnhic. The author also is a poet, that is why the guests of the exhibition can see collages of photos and texts. The latter are parts of his poetry. Mostly he must thank to his friends for realising of that exhibition. As a goal of that exposition he defines: "let it be an attempt to give people a little bit beauty as a present ".
