What’s on in September?
18 September, 5 p.m.

The traditional national feasts Albena 2009 in Dobrich, organized by the Dobrich Municipality and Zahariy Stoyanov publishing house start in September. The opening of the exhibition is on 18th September at 5 p.m. It presents works by the artists: Borislav Stoev, Boyan Yanev, Vladimir Kondarev, Grisha Kovachev, Danail Atanasov, Daniela Mehandzhieva, Dimitar Cholakov, Evgeniy Kuzmanov, Evgeniy Bosyatski, Zdravko Palazov, Zlati Zlatev, Iliya Beshkov, Krasen Berbenkov, Lyuben Dimanov, Lyuben Zidarov, Nikolaj Dimitrov, Ognyan Mehandzhiev, Petar Rasovski, Svetlin Nenov, Slav Bakalov, Todor Bulev, Hristo Mihaylov, Tsvetana Videva, Tsvetan Kazandzhiev, Yuriy Granitski. 

18 September, 5.30 p.m.
The literary and musical spectacle starts at 5.30 p.m. with the participation of academic Anton Donchev, Ivan Granitski, academic Georgi Markov, Margarita Petkova, Stoyan Raychevski, Pancho Panchev, Veli Chaushev, Dimitar Tomov, Ventsislav Kisiov, Stefan Mavrodiev, Ivaylo Dimanov, Karmen Mishu, Haygashod Agasyan, Mladen Taskov, Hristo Todorov. The public will enjoy performances by the string quartet Dobrich.

23 September, 5.30 p.m.
The traditional annual exhibition of the Union of The Dobrich Artists will be opened on 23rd September at 5.30 p.m. It is organized to commemorate the 45th anniversary of its foundation in 1964.

24 September, 5.30 p.m.
The photographic exhibition ‘A whole life devoted to photography’ devoted to the artist and photographer Todor Kemilev /1910 – 1969/ will be opened on 24th September at 5.30 p.m. just on the eve of the Day of the Dobrich Town which is 25th September. It is organized by the Dobrich Municipality, Regional Historical Museum and the Dobrich Art Gallery with the assistance of Kemilev’s family.  It comprises original photographs of the period of the foundation of the first photo studio of Kemilev in Dobrich, which belong to the archive of the Historical Museum, as well as private ones brought by citizens of Dobrich for the exhibition. The daughter gave up very interesting photos for the exhibition.

Todor Angelov Kemilev was born in 1910 in the town of Dobrich and was one of the first 8 photographers conferred the honorary title ‘artist-photographer’. Having started his career of photographer at the age of 17 after apprenticeship with the photographer Sarkisyan in Dobrich he became down the years one of the very first professional photographers in Bulgaria who contributed most to the development of the photography in Bulgaria. In the beginning of the 50-s he started experiments in the field of color photography that was almost unknown in Bulgaria in that period.  

The Dobrich Art Gallery is thankful to all people who presented photographs for the exhibition.

On the last day of September the gallery will play host to the photographic exhibition ‘Sunny summer in Dobrudzha’, organized by the Kindergarten N8 in Dobrich.

Rich of events is the cultural program of the Dobrich Art Gallery in May.
1. On 7th May /Thursday/ at 5.30 pm the team of the Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Hristo Gospodinov And Friends, organized with the support of the Dobrich Municipality, Rotary Club Dobrich and  Process – Space Association.
2. On 14th May is the opening of the exhibition of the famous Bulgarian writer and citizen of honor of Dobrich Ivaylo Petrov under the title of Before And After. The exhibition will present some paintings by the writer as well as plastic works and drawings by him.  
3. An accent in the cultural program of the town in May is the annual exhibition of the artists from Dobrich, united in Studio 13 Association, which will be opened on 22nd May.
4. On 22nd May is the opening of the exhibition of artists  pedagogues from Dobrich.

Bulgarian-Finish exhibition

A Bulgarian-Finish exhibition was opened in the first half of November 2008.  It is part of a common project based on the idea of an European cultural dialogue and seems to be the event of greatest importance in the cultural cooperation between the both countries. The exhibition presents paintings by the Finish artists Liisa Malkamo and Elina Försti, steel sculptures by Todor Todorov and paper works by Daniela Todorova.

After the visit at the National Art Gallery in Sofia and in Dobrich the exhibition continues its traveling in other towns in Bulgaria and Finland.
 
"Through my eyes" is the title of a photoexhibition to be opened on 3-rd of April 2008 in the Art Gallery - Dobrich. Author of the pictures is Georguie Kolev. He was born in Balchik and recently lives in Dobrich. According to his words the exhibition is with no spesific theme. It includes landscapes, still lifes, portraits and abstract compositions. Four of the photos are black and white tecnhic from the end of 80s when is his debut as a photographer. The exhibition is first one for him. It is tipical that the pictures are taken by film camera which is a reverance to such a kind of art tecnhic. The author also is a poet, that is why the guests of the exhibition can see collages of photos and texts. The latter are parts of his poetry. Mostly he must thank to his friends for realising of that exhibition. As a goal of that exposition he defines: "let it be an attempt to give people a little bit beauty as a present ".
